How to Add AI to an Existing Website
Your existing website can gain AI assistance through a compatible plugin or integration. Start with its platform, information and the task you want to improve.
You can add AI to an existing website through a compatible plugin, an embedded assistant or a custom integration. You do not need to rebuild the site simply to offer conversational help. The right method depends on your platform and whether AI only needs to answer questions or also work with products, appointments and owner-side tools.
For an existing WordPress website, the standalone Niwa AI plugin brings customer assistance and supported website operations into the site you already own. Before installing anything, assess what the current website can supply and what you want the new feature to accomplish.
Check the website you have before choosing a tool
Identify the platform, who has administrative access and where important business information lives. A site may look like a simple brochure while relying on an external store, booking service or customer database. Those connections affect what an assistant can read and do.
List the pages customers already use to make decisions. Check their descriptions, prices, contact details and policies. If an assistant reads stale information, adding a chat window may make that information easier to repeat without making it more accurate.
Choose a concrete first use case. A service site might need help matching an enquiry to a service page. A shop might need product comparisons. A support site might need navigation through existing documentation. These tasks have different data and action requirements.
Keep a note of the current customer path before the change. For example, record how a visitor moves from a service page to a booking form. That gives you something specific to check after adding the assistant.
Decide between a plugin and an embedded assistant
A platform plugin can work inside the website's own environment, subject to its permissions and supported integrations. An embedded assistant places a visitor interface on the page, but its access to business systems depends on the service and connections behind it. An embed alone does not establish access to your appointment records or stock.
If you use WordPress, Niwa's setup guide explains installation, licence activation, model connection and enabling the public chat. WordPress's plugin documentation also describes uploading a plugin ZIP through the dashboard. Check compatibility and keep a current backup before changing the installation.
On another platform, inspect its supported apps or embed controls. Ask the provider whether the assistant can read current products, refresh changed information and connect to the actions you need. Distinguish built-in support from a connection that still has to be developed.
Migration is a separate choice. It may make sense when you want Niwa's WordPress operating tools and a broader website change, but it should follow a comparison of the required work. Do not move a functioning site just because a chat feature exists on another platform.
Add information and access in a deliberate order
Begin with the public business material the assistant needs to answer the chosen question. Include facts that may be hard to infer, such as service boundaries, product measurements or how someone requests a change to an appointment.
Then add the relevant connections. Niwa's storefront assistant can use configured catalog information to guide customers toward products. Website scheduling needs its own services and availability. Connected email and owner editing have separate access requirements.
Set the role clearly. Customers may ask about the website; an authorized owner may instruct Niwa to change it. Do not give the visitor interface the owner's permissions as a shortcut to making a demonstration work.
Connecting WhatsApp extends Niwa's business agent to conversations in that channel. Customers can ask about products or services, book appointments and use enabled sales actions directly in the conversation. The agent works from the website's business context, including current catalog information and configured availability.
Check that the existing website still works
Test the original navigation, forms and purchase or booking path after installation. On mobile, open and close the assistant, scroll the page and use the primary action. Check whether another support widget is competing for the same space.
Ask questions with known answers, then ask about something absent from the supplied material. A useful assistant should acknowledge the missing information and offer a relevant human route. It should not manufacture a delivery promise or service price.
For changing information, update a controlled source item and verify that the next answer reflects it through the documented refresh process. For actions, inspect the actual saved result. These checks tell you more than a welcome message or a successful licence activation.
Review the Niwa safety guide before extending the scope. Your website remains part of the data path, and information needed for a task can also reach the selected provider or connected service.
Keep the site or choose a wider implementation
The standalone Niwa AI plugin plan is for an existing WordPress website. Niwa Business costs USD 150 and includes a custom WordPress site or agreed migration, hosting, maintenance and an AI operating system adapted to the business.
Use your own supported AI subscription without additional Niwa AI usage fees or Niwa-imposed usage caps. Provider subscription terms still apply; an API connection uses separate provider billing.
Send Niwa your current website and intended task. That makes it possible to discuss a plugin installation, a specific integration or a migration on the basis of the work your existing site actually needs.
