Why Does My AI Website Look Wrong on Mobile?
A mobile layout usually fails because desktop widths, positioning, text or overlays do not adapt. Reproduce the affected screen and fix the responsible component.
An AI website can look wrong on mobile when desktop widths, absolute positioning, large text or floating controls do not adapt to a smaller viewport. The cause may be one component rather than the whole design. Reproduce the exact page and screen state, identify what extends or overlaps, and correct that component before requesting a redesign.
For WordPress, Niwa's maintenance agent gives you a way to describe a visible fault and request a focused correction. "The service title covers the photo on my phone" is useful evidence. Include the page address and a screenshot showing the whole affected area.
Reproduce the page customers see
Open the public URL on a real phone while logged out. Check the device orientation, browser and whether the menu, chat or keyboard is open. Record those details. A problem that appears only after opening a form will not necessarily show in the builder's initial preview.
Compare that page with another using the same header or card design. If both fail, the shared component deserves attention. If only one fails, inspect its particular text, images and layout settings.
Browser device emulation lets you test several widths quickly. Include a narrow phone width and a wider one, then test between layout changes. A design can fit at a named device preset yet break at an intermediate width. Real-device testing still matters for browser behavior, touch and the on-screen keyboard.
Find what causes sideways scrolling
If the whole page moves sideways, look for a component wider than its container. Common candidates include fixed-width cards, a long unbroken address, a table, an embedded player or an image that retains its full source width.
Use the browser's element inspector to compare the element's dimensions with the viewport. Check its parent containers too. A wide child may be a symptom of a grid or flex layout refusing to shrink.
Correct the element's sizing or wrapping according to its purpose. A data table may need its own horizontal scroll area; ordinary page text should usually wrap. Hiding overflow on the entire page can conceal the symptom while leaving a price or action button inaccessible. Verify that the content remains reachable after the fix.
Make columns and positioned elements adapt
A desktop layout might place text and an image side by side. On a narrow screen, those columns often need to stack or change proportion. Inspect fixed dimensions and elements positioned outside the normal content flow, especially text placed over a hero photograph.
Google's media-query guidance explains how layout rules can respond to viewport conditions. Choose changes where the content needs them, rather than assuming a preset width works for every language and page.
Give Niwa a bounded WordPress request: correct the affected service hero at the supplied phone widths and preserve the desktop hierarchy. Review the changed style or template and test another page that shares it. A local component correction is easier to assess than a global replacement of every layout rule.
Check headings and text with real content
A layout may have been generated around a short placeholder heading. Your real service name, address or translated button label can be much longer. Test those actual strings before shrinking all text to make the sample fit.
Review heading size, line height, container width and wrapping together. Avoid forced line breaks that only work at one viewport. Keep paragraphs readable and action labels understandable. A tiny button label solves little if the visitor can no longer identify the action.
Increase text size and inspect the page again. W3C's preliminary checks help review resizing, keyboard focus and other basic accessibility behavior. If the page loses content when text grows, return to its layout constraints rather than blocking enlargement.
Preserve the useful subject in images
Check whether the mobile crop removes the product, person or process the image needs to explain. A wide photo can fit its container while still communicating poorly when cropped into a tall hero.
Adjust the crop, focal point or mobile composition. Use an alternative image when the original cannot convey the same information at the required size. Do not stretch a photograph to force it into the layout.
Responsive image delivery is a separate concern from crop quality. The browser also needs an appropriate file for its screen. Google's responsive image guide describes that distinction. Confirm both what is visible and what is downloaded; a good crop does not automatically mean a small download.
Test menus, dialogs and floating widgets
Open the navigation and inspect the final item, close control and scroll behavior. Try a product selector or booking dialog. Check that important controls remain visible in portrait and landscape and that a keyboard user can move through them.
A sticky bar, cookie notice or chat launcher may overlap another control. Identify which component owns the position and what space it needs. Test the closed and expanded chat states, including the page behind the chat.
If you use Niwa's website assistant, check that a visitor can open it, read a response, close it and return to the page task. Customer assistance should help the journey rather than cover the form's submit button. Do not move every overlay randomly until one screenshot happens to fit.
Complete a form with the phone keyboard open
Focus the first input, move through the fields and submit an identifiable test in an appropriate test environment. Inspect whether the focused field remains visible, whether validation explains a missing value and whether the confirmation can be read.
For website booking, test the available-time selection and saved reservation with the phone keyboard open. Check that the selected service, time and contact details appear in the appointment record. The confirmation and any validation error must remain readable on the phone.
Repeat after changing the layout. An attractive mobile page that cannot complete the customer action still needs work. Keep the screenshot, width and exact interaction in the change record so the repair can be checked later.
Keep the correction small and verifiable
Back up before modifying shared code and make the repair on a separate copy where possible. Test the affected page at the reported width, another phone width and desktop. Review an inner page using the same component.
If the saved change is absent on the public page, inspect the relevant cache and served assets. Do not layer another stylesheet over a change visitors have not received. The wider AI website mistakes guide explains why public verification and recovery belong in the same workflow.
