How Much Does a WhatsApp AI Assistant Cost?

Compare WhatsApp AI costs across setup, software, AI accounts and messaging. See Niwa's USD 150 business offer and its no-added-AI-usage-fee connection.

A WhatsApp AI assistant's total cost can include setup, software, hosting, the AI account and any messaging charges for the connection you use. Niwa Business is USD 150 and includes a custom WordPress website or migration, hosting, maintenance and AI tools adapted to your business. Existing WordPress owners can use the standalone Niwa AI plugin.

Niwa also lets you connect your own supported AI subscription without added Niwa AI usage fees or Niwa-imposed usage caps on that connection. Your provider's terms and limits still apply. An API account has separate provider billing. These are different cost arrangements, so start with the setup you actually need.

Separate the service price from the usage costs

A website service, a software licence and the cost of running an AI account cover different things. Ask which of them is included in the proposal and who pays each provider. Otherwise, a small headline price can be difficult to compare with a package that includes more of the work.

For the Niwa WhatsApp assistant, describe your existing site and the customer journey you want to handle. A product-question assistant needs useful catalog information. A booking workflow also needs configured services, durations and team availability.

Niwa Business includes the website or migration and business adaptation. If your WordPress website is already suitable, the standalone plugin can be the relevant route. Get the proposal for that route rather than assuming the full website offer is the plugin's price.

Understand Niwa's AI account arrangement

On the supported own-subscription connection, Niwa does not add an AI usage fee or its own usage cap. You use the supported account under the provider's eligibility and usage terms. This gives you a clear distinction between the Niwa service and the AI account you bring.

With an API connection, the provider bills API usage separately. The model, amount of input and output, and any provider-specific charges affect that bill. Do not treat a subscription connection and an API balance as interchangeable budgets.

Follow the Niwa account setup guide for the connection you choose. Check which account serves the WhatsApp channel as well as the website assistant. A subscription for an unrelated AI product is not automatically an eligible connection.

Compare the actual competitor charging mechanisms

Manychat's current pricing page, reviewed on October 9, 2026, describes plans with included Active Contacts and charges for additional Active Contacts. Its eligible channels and AI features depend on the selected plan. That contact-based mechanism should be compared as contact pricing.

Respond.io's pricing page, reviewed on the same date, describes Monthly Active Contacts, included AI credits and additional AI-credit usage on current paid plans. It also states that WhatsApp fees are separate from the software subscription. Review the included allowance and overage mechanism together; a headline that AI is included does not describe every possible bill.

Niwa's relevant difference is its no-added-Niwa-AI-usage-fee arrangement for a supported own-subscription connection, alongside your website context and connected business actions. Compare the full workflow you need: answering a product question, gathering an enquiry or completing an appointment through WhatsApp.

These sources do not establish a universal cheapest option. The number of active customers, required channels, staff access and AI-account arrangement can change the comparison. Use your expected activity and the current proposal.

Check the WhatsApp connection before adding message fees

WhatsApp Business Platform fees are separate from software pricing. WhatsApp's official pricing page describes charges based on delivered messages, category and destination market, with rules for free service messages and eligible utility responses in the customer-service window.

That is pricing for the Business Platform route. Do not automatically apply a Platform tariff to every QR-paired WhatsApp Web setup, or assume every message has a paid fee. Identify the route in your proposal and ask who bills any applicable messaging charges.

If your business plans outbound campaigns, include that activity in the budget and review the relevant messaging requirements. An assistant answering incoming customer questions can have a different cost pattern from a campaign sending messages to many recipients.

Include the work that makes answers useful

Budget for preparing business information, configuring customer access and checking a complete conversation. An installed assistant without accurate service details or product data may need substantial work before it can handle the task you bought it for.

For appointments, the Niwa booking workflow needs services, durations, team schedules and required customer details. For sales, check the catalog and the connected actions. Verify the record created at the end, rather than counting a reply as the completed outcome.

Maintenance also matters. Someone must update changed policies, investigate unanswered questions and handle requests that need judgment. Ask what your service includes and which responsibilities remain with your team.

Build a budget around a representative month

List the customers you expect to assist, the journeys they need and the likely staff involvement. For a contact-priced provider, use active contacts rather than counting all messages as contacts. For an API account, use the provider's actual usage report after a representative test.

Keep the software, AI, messaging and service costs as separate lines. Add applicable taxes and currency considerations from the proposal. This makes changes visible when the workload grows or you choose a different connection.

Do not calculate savings by assuming every automated conversation replaces a full staff interaction. Review whether the answer was useful and whether the intended enquiry, booking or sales step completed. That tells you what you are paying to achieve.

Ask Niwa for a WhatsApp assistant proposal. Include your WordPress website, the AI account you want to use and the customer workflow you need so the price covers the actual setup.
