Who Updates an AI Website After Launch?
Assign responsibility for content, WordPress updates, AI connections and recovery after launch. An AI-built site still needs an agreed maintenance owner.
The people or providers named in your handover and maintenance agreement update an AI website after launch. AI involvement in building the site does not create an ongoing care service. Decide who owns content changes, software updates, connected accounts and recovery before the project is handed over.
For a WordPress website with Niwa, an authorised owner can request supported content and website work through the assistant. The tools, permissions and connections available on that installation determine what Niwa can do. Hosting support, plugin vendors or a developer may still be needed for work outside that scope.
Give routine business information a clear owner
Someone at the business needs to approve current services, product details, prices, opening hours and availability. A developer can implement an edit, but cannot decide whether the information is commercially correct without the business's input.
Choose the person who receives change requests and the person authorised to approve them. A small business may use one owner for both. A larger team may ask a content editor to prepare the update while a service manager confirms the facts.
Niwa can help turn an approved request into a supported WordPress edit. For example, the owner can identify a service page and supply the revised appointment details. Check the saved page and the public result, including the part customers use on a phone. Niwa's maintenance workflow describes this scoped approach to content and layout work.
Assign WordPress software care separately
WordPress core, the theme and the installed plugins have their own release and compatibility requirements. Ask who checks available updates, prepares recovery, applies the agreed changes and verifies the site afterwards.
If the host offers managed WordPress, read the actual coverage. It may manage some infrastructure or software work while excluding a custom theme, third-party integration or the investigation of a plugin conflict. The launch developer may provide continuing care only under a separate agreement.
WordPress advises backing up before updating. The person responsible should know how to restore the relevant files and database, not simply how to press an update button. Use the official WordPress update guidance when agreeing the process.
Keep records of the change and the checks. A software version changing successfully is one result; a customer's checkout or booking still working is another. The verification needs to cover the functions affected by the update.
Automatic updates still need supervision
WordPress provides plugin and theme auto-update controls, but their availability and operation depend on the installation. The official documentation notes that scheduled updates rely on WordPress Cron and may fail when scheduling is not working. WordPress automatic-update guidance.
Agree which updates use that mechanism and who receives failure notifications. Also decide who investigates Site Health warnings and checks an important customer journey after a relevant change. An enabled setting does not identify the person who will act when something goes wrong.
Automation can perform a defined operation. It cannot establish the business's preferred wording, approve a new service price or supply missing account access by itself. Keep those decisions with the authorised person.
Name the owner of the AI connection
An active assistant depends on the configured AI account as well as the website. Establish who controls that account, who can authorise the connection and who checks errors or a change in account conditions.
An eligible own-subscription connection in Niwa adds no Niwa AI usage fees or Niwa-imposed caps on that connection. Provider terms and allowances still apply. If the site uses an API instead, the provider's API account and billing need their own responsible owner.
The Niwa setup guide documents the supported connection choices. Keep the access under business control and make the maintenance contact aware of the selected mode. A failed authorisation requires a different response from a WordPress file error.
Website content and indexing also need coordination. When important product or service information changes, check that the assistant uses the current records through the installation's configured retrieval and indexing path. Verify with a relevant question instead of assuming a text edit has updated every separate information source.
Define what Niwa is authorised to change
Give the assistant a concrete task and the outcome you want. Changing a paragraph and modifying a shared template have different effects. Access and approval settings should match the work you have authorised.
Niwa's safety guide explains supported saved versions, checks and recovery boundaries. A response check can detect some failures after a file change, but it does not test every button or customer journey. Independent backups and functional checks remain part of care.
Customers using the public assistant should not receive the owner's website-editing powers. Review administrator accounts and connected permissions as part of the handover. When a team member leaves, the business needs a known route to manage their access.
Agree where a failure is reported
Choose one initial contact who can gather the affected URL, the time, the observed result and any relevant error. That contact can then involve the host, implementation team or provider with evidence. Customers should not need to work out which supplier owns the fault.
Set the response arrangements in the actual agreement. Do not assume a launch fee includes continuous monitoring, a particular response time or every repair. For a website that takes appointments, the report should identify whether the failure occurred during assistance, time selection or saving the booking.
Assign responsibility for Niwa's connected WhatsApp booking and sales workflows as well as the website. A customer can choose a service and appointment directly in the conversation, with the reservation saved in the connected schedule. For sales, verify the resulting order in the business system. Delivery of a chat reply alone does not establish that the action was saved.
Leave the launch with a usable handover
Record the owner for each area, the agreed access, the recovery location, the contact route and the checks expected after a change. Ask for any continuing-care proposal to describe what is included and what needs a separate decision.
Niwa Business is USD 150 for a custom WordPress website or migration, hosting, maintenance and adapted AI tools. Confirm its billing schedule and care coverage in your proposal. Existing WordPress owners can discuss the standalone plugin and the support appropriate to their current installation.
Discuss your website's handover with Niwa. Bring the customer task that must keep working and identify who on your team can approve changes. That gives ongoing updates an accountable owner after the launch work is complete.
