Conversion rate optimization can cost your team's time plus any research and measurement tools, or it can involve a specialist agency retainer. There is no single standard fee. The price changes with the scope: auditing one customer journey is different from running an ongoing programme of research, design, implementation and experiments.

As a concrete public example checked on 9 October 2026, WebFX lists named CRO plans at USD 1,800 per month, USD 3,600 per month and USD 9,200 or more per month. Those are one vendor's published plans, not a market average or the price every business needs to pay.

Niwa Business is USD 150 for a custom WordPress website or migration, hosting, maintenance and AI adaptation to the business. Niwa uses your website's business context to answer customer questions and complete booking and sales workflows, including directly in WhatsApp. Budget separately for specialist CRO research and experiments when you need those services.

What you are paying for

A useful CRO budget separates the work into identifiable deliverables.

Measurement: defining the goal, checking that events represent completed outcomes and resolving duplicate or missing records.

Research: reviewing the customer journey, investigating usability and gathering evidence about the questions people need answered.

Implementation: writing or designing the change, developing it and checking that it works across relevant devices.

Evaluation: configuring a suitable experiment when feasible, monitoring data quality and interpreting results with uncertainty and business value in mind.

An audit can recommend changes without implementing them. A testing subscription can run experiments without providing customer research or development. Ask which work the quote includes before comparing totals. Our CRO explanation describes the broader work behind an improved conversion rate.

Current public pricing examples

WebFX's CRO service page lists Essential CRO at USD 1,800 per month, Custom CRO at USD 3,600 per month and Enterprise CRO at USD 9,200 or more per month. Its named plans describe different business and research/design scopes. Request the actual proposal and terms for your site.

Microsoft Clarity currently advertises its heatmaps and session recordings as free. You still need time to set up appropriate measurement, review the evidence and implement any useful findings. A free software licence does not make the whole project free.

Optimizely's plans page says its plans are individually packaged. Treat that as a reason to request a scoped quote, rather than inventing a public entry price. VWO's pricing route now leads to the Wingify platform pricing page. Check its current product and traffic scope instead of relying on an old free-plan article.

These tools and services do different jobs. Choose the job you need before deciding whether a fee is reasonable. Prices and packaging can change after the date of this check.

A simple way to build your own budget

Start with one outcome and one journey, such as a qualified service enquiry or a completed purchase on selected product pages. List the work required and who will do it.

For an illustrative internal budget, suppose measurement checks take four hours, customer-journey research takes six, implementation takes eight and evaluation takes four. At an assumed internal cost of USD 50 per hour, the 22 hours cost USD 1,100 before software, participant recruitment or other expenses.

Those hours and that hourly cost are planning assumptions, not industry averages or a Niwa quote. Replace them with your team's actual estimates. The purpose is to avoid confusing the price of a tool with the cost of the work.

Also account for test duration. A subscription may continue while enough eligible participants accumulate. If the proposed experiment would take many months, spending on a different form of investigation may be more useful.

Decide what improvement would justify the expense

Use contribution rather than revenue alone. In a hypothetical case, 20 genuinely additional orders per month with USD 30 contribution each add USD 600 before the CRO programme cost. A USD 1,800 monthly fee would not be covered by that particular outcome.

The difficult part is establishing which orders are actually incremental. A before-and-after sales increase can reflect seasonality or a promotion. Do not turn a target into a promised return.

For leads, include the rate at which enquiries become profitable customers. For appointments, consider attendance and cancellations. A cheap extra form submission can still have little business value.

Where Niwa fits in the budget

If visitors need product information, Niwa's storefront assistant can help them compare options using your catalogue. Prepare accurate details, configure the allowed workflow and check the path to checkout. That gives you a specific customer task to evaluate.

Existing WordPress owners can install the standalone plugin. With a supported own-subscription connection, Niwa adds no token markup, extra AI usage fees or Niwa-imposed usage caps. Provider terms and limits apply; API billing is separate.

Contact Niwa with your website and the purchase or booking task you want to support. Confirm the applicable billing terms and setup scope, then budget separately for any analytics implementation, specialist research or experiment programme you require.
