Do AI Websites Need Hosting?

Yes. An AI website needs hosting so people can open it on the internet. Hosting may already be included in the builder or website package you buy. AI can help create a website, but it does not replace the infrastructure that serves its pages and runs its functions.

What hosting does for the website
Hosting stores and serves the website's files. Depending on the platform, it also runs the software and database used by forms, products, accounts or bookings. A domain gives visitors an address; it does not store the website by itself.
A page can look complete in an AI tool or on a developer's laptop without being publicly hosted. Before calling it live, open its public URL from another device and check the actual functions. A design preview is not the same result as a working website.
There are three common arrangements, and each still uses hosting.
A hosted builder includes the infrastructure
In a hosted builder, the provider operates the platform and includes hosting in the service. You may not see a separate hosting invoice, but your site still runs on the provider's infrastructure.

When comparing a builder plan, check what happens to publication, your custom domain and the site's functions if the plan ends. Also establish what can be exported if you later want another platform. Those are questions about the chosen service, not about whether AI created the original layout.
A static website needs somewhere to serve its files
A static site commonly consists of built HTML, CSS, JavaScript and media files. AI may help write them, but they still need to be deployed. Check every feature separately. A static service page can display opening hours, while a contact form may depend on an external form service. A booking link may lead to another system. An AI chat interface may use a backend or hosted assistant service. Serving the page does not automatically provide those services.
If the exported project includes server code, a database or background jobs, it has requirements beyond static file hosting. Give the host the actual project requirements rather than choosing a plan from the appearance of the homepage.
WordPress needs a compatible server environment
WordPress uses server software and a database. Its official requirements page currently recommends PHP 8.3 or later, MariaDB 10.11 or later or MySQL 8.0 or later, and HTTPS support. Check the current requirements and the plugins you intend to run before choosing a host. WordPress requirements.
Niwa runs as a WordPress plugin. For a product assistant, the site needs to serve the storefront and make the appropriate product data available. For website booking, the configured services and schedule must work as part of the installation.
The host also needs to support the connections used by your chosen setup. A remotely hosted AI model does not require a GPU on your WordPress server merely because the website has a chat button. Running model inference yourself is a separate infrastructure decision.
Hosting and AI access pay for different work
Hosting serves the website and runs its application. AI access provides the model connection used for tasks such as answering a customer question. The services may be sold together, but they remain different parts of the system.
Niwa supports an eligible own-subscription connection without extra Niwa AI usage charges or Niwa-imposed usage limits on that connection. Provider subscription terms still apply. An API-based arrangement may be billed separately. Neither arrangement removes the need to host WordPress.
If AI only helped generate the finished pages, serving those pages does not by itself require another model call. If the website uses AI during a customer's visit, verify the live connection as well as the page load.
Find out what is already included
Before buying another hosting account, list what your current builder, developer or website package already supplies.
