Niwa MCP for WordPress
Use Niwa MCP to connect a compatible AI assistant to WordPress, edit content, update WooCommerce products and manage stock. See setup and access controls.
Niwa MCP connects a compatible AI assistant to your WordPress website so you can read site information, edit content and work with WooCommerce products through conversation. Niwa carries out supported operations inside WordPress through a private, authenticated connection. Niwa MCP access
That makes it useful for everyday owner tasks: updating a draft page, changing a product description or recording a new stock quantity. You give the instruction in your assistant, then check the saved result in WordPress.
Already have a WordPress website? Install the standalone Niwa AI plugin on your existing site. You do not need a new website to use Niwa. Niwa installation guide

What MCP adds to your assistant
Model Context Protocol, or MCP, gives AI applications a standard way to use external tools and data. Your assistant is the client; Niwa connects it to the available WordPress operations. The client discovers a tool, requests an action and receives its result. What MCP does
For example, a product lookup can return the actual catalogue record. An approved update can change that record instead of leaving you with text to copy into another screen. Available tools depend on your Niwa setup and the plugins running on your site.
Content, catalogue and stock tasks
These examples show how to make an owner's instruction precise. Use your own page, product and approved text.
Page content
Ask the assistant to find your draft delivery page and show its ID and opening paragraph. Once you have checked the page, give it the replacement text:
Replace the opening paragraph on this draft page with the text I supplied. Keep the page in draft and show me the saved paragraph.
Niwa supports page updates. For a page-builder layout, use the operation that edits the visible content; the stored WordPress page title may be separate from the headline visitors see.
Product catalogue
Find a product by its SKU, review the current description and request a specific update:
For this SKU, replace the short description with my approved text. Keep the price unchanged and read back the saved description.
Niwa's catalogue tools support product lookups and updates to fields such as descriptions and prices. Identify the correct variation when changing a variable product's price or stock.
Stock quantities
When you receive stock or complete a stock count, ask the assistant to show the current quantity for the exact product or variation. After confirming the record, you can request a new quantity:
Set this product's stock quantity to 8, then show me the saved quantity.
This example sets the total quantity. It does not ask the assistant to add eight units to the previous count. Stating the intended change clearly helps you check the result. Niwa's website and store workflows
Connect Claude Code or Codex
Start with an active Niwa installation and a client that supports your site's MCP connection. For remote access, the site needs HTTPS and must be reachable from the client.
- Open WordPress → Niwa AI → Niwa MCP. Copy the endpoint displayed for your site.
- Generate a token with a suitable expiry. Store it in the intended client's private configuration.
- Use the client example from Niwa's MCP screen. It provides Claude Code and Codex configurations. Replace the token placeholder with your credential.
- Start a fresh client session. Ask it to list the available tools and read a known page or product. Then test a small approved change on a draft or test product and check the saved record. Niwa MCP setup
Claude Code supports remote HTTP MCP servers. Claude's account-based remote connectors originate from Anthropic's cloud, so their network and authentication requirements differ from a local client connection. Use the route supported by your particular client and Niwa installation. Claude Code MCP, Claude remote connectors
Codex supports bearer-token and OAuth connections. For a bearer-token setup, it can read the credential from an environment variable available to the running client process. Codex MCP configuration
Keep administrator access under your control
Niwa's documented MCP bearer token grants administrator access. Keep it private, choose a bounded lifetime and revoke it when it is no longer needed. Leave the optional WordPress-options access off unless your task requires it. Niwa access settings
Client approval controls help you review changes, but they do not reduce the token's server permissions. If you need an agent to be technically limited to a narrow set of actions, confirm that the server enforces those restrictions. Begin testing in a test environment and keep approval for consequential changes.
Use your supported AI subscription
Niwa also supports connecting its own assistant to an eligible ChatGPT account through Codex OAuth. In Main Settings → Authentication, choose Codex OAuth and follow the sign-in flow. This model connection is separate from the MCP token used by an external assistant. Connect your account to Niwa
On the supported subscription connection, Niwa adds no AI usage charges and imposes no additional usage limits. Your provider's plan limits and terms still apply. API-key connections remain available if you prefer that route, with billing handled by the provider.
If the connection fails
Use the error to identify what needs checking:
- Authentication is rejected: check the token, expiry, revocation and the account's permissions.
- The endpoint returns your homepage: check the MCP route and hosting or security rules intercepting the request.
- A configured token is not being sent: check credential availability in the running client and forwarding of the Authorization header.
- The client connects but cannot use a tool: check client/server compatibility, available tools and the tool's arguments.
Hosting rules can strip authentication headers, and a credential can be configured without being available to the active process. Include the exact error, client and Niwa versions when requesting help, with tokens removed. WordPress hosting report, Codex credential report
Choose Niwa for your existing site or a new website
For an existing WordPress site, use the standalone Niwa AI plugin and connect the workflows you need. Install Niwa AI
Niwa Business is USD 150 and includes a custom WordPress website or migration, hosting, maintenance and AI tools adapted to your business. Tell us about your website and intended MCP tasks so we can confirm the scope and billing details. Discuss Niwa Business
An AI-built website uses AI during creation. Niwa adds business workflows after launch. Alongside the owner's MCP content and catalogue work, Niwa uses the website's business context to answer customers and complete booking and sales workflows on the website and directly in WhatsApp. Customer workflows use the permissions and information appropriate to that customer; the owner's external administrator connection serves a separate role.
Bring a website task to your demo
Niwa offers a free 30-minute demo focused on your website. Bring your AI client's name and one example, such as changing a product description or updating stock. The demo is a place to discuss the tools and access needed for that workflow.
