How Long Does It Take to Build a Website with AI?

Estimate the whole website project, including content review and real workflow tests. AI drafting speed is only one part of the launch schedule.

The time to build a website with AI depends on the content you have ready, the design work and the functions that must be tested. For planning a small, prepared service site, the illustrative schedule below budgets 5 to 12 hours of active work, plus waiting for approvals or external setup. This is an example estimate, not a measured industry average or a delivery promise.

WordPress provides an established content backend, so AI can help with pages and presentation while you reuse existing platform functions. Niwa can add customer assistance once the site and its business information are ready. Niwa Business can also handle the website or migration, hosting, maintenance and AI adaptation; its delivery schedule needs to be confirmed for your scope.

Estimate the complete launch rather than the time until the first preview appears.

Define what finished means for this project

Write the launch requirements before estimating them. A three-page service site with an enquiry form has a different workload from a store with product variants, payment accounts and several delivery regions.

For the service site, finished might mean approved copy, real images, readable mobile layouts, correct menus, a delivered enquiry and an owner who can edit the content. An AI-generated preview does not yet prove those requirements are met.

Decide who signs off the facts and who tests the business workflow. Put those people in the schedule. A project can contain a modest amount of active work and still take several calendar days because the necessary reviewer is unavailable.

If you need a custom AI-coded frontend, describe the required page types and interactions. Reusing an existing block theme and creating a new custom theme are different scopes even when both produce three pages.

Check readiness before assigning a launch date

Gather the business name, service descriptions, contact details, photographs, brand materials and operating rules. Confirm access to the domain, hosting and any external business accounts.

Hostinger offers guided WordPress setup, but the owner still needs the appropriate account and website information. The WordPress and AI setup guide explains the foundation and development choices.

Mark each dependency as ready or awaiting a named person. A missing service price can delay copy approval. A missing payment-provider approval can delay a store’s launch even if its design is complete. Estimate those waits separately instead of hiding them in design hours.

For an existing website, review the current content and functions before estimating reuse. This guide’s example is a prepared small build; it is not a migration estimate.

Use a transparent small-site planning example

The following example assumes three simple service pages, approved source information and images, ready hosting, a suitable existing block theme and one ordinary enquiry form. It excludes custom theme development, ecommerce, scheduling, translation, migration and external account approval.

Work item Illustrative active-work allowance
Assemble the brief and review AI-assisted copy 1 to 3 hours
Build the pages and shared layout 2 to 4 hours
Configure the enquiry route 1 to 2 hours
Check mobile pages, editability and enquiry delivery 1 to 3 hours
Total before extra revisions 5 to 12 hours

These allowances are a planning example constructed for the stated scope. Replace them with estimates from the person doing your implementation. Add time for revisions and calendar waits after the actual materials have been reviewed.

The WordPress Site Editor supports shared layouts and styles in block themes, which can reduce repeated manual layout work. How much time it saves depends on the site.

Allow for the functions that create extra work

A store needs accurate products, delivery rules, payments and order checks. A booking site needs real services and availability, plus reservation tests. A multilingual site needs reviewed translations and a complete customer journey in each launch language.

Each function adds preparation and validation. Count the distinct workflows, not just the visible pages. One checkout page can require more testing than several informational pages.

WooCommerce’s test-order documentation recommends staging and explains that test orders can trigger emails or other integrations. That is a reason to schedule controlled checks rather than assume a generated checkout is ready immediately.

Ask the implementer to name the acceptance result for each function. An enquiry should reach its destination. A reservation should appear in the scheduling system. A purchase should produce the intended payment and order result. Schedule time to inspect those records.

Review one complete page before repeating the design

Use a representative page with the real text and images. Have the decision-maker review its content, layout and next step before the agent expands the design across the site.

That early review can reveal a wrong service emphasis or an impractical mobile layout while the change is still small. Give consolidated feedback tied to the brief. Contradictory instructions from several reviewers make even a simple page take longer.

Track active work and waiting separately during the first page. Use what you learn to revise the remaining estimate. The first pass is useful evidence for this project; a builder’s generation-speed claim is not a complete launch plan.

Schedule launch checks and the owner handover

Check the public site while logged out after deployment. Review images, links, forms and the intended business workflow. Have the owner make an ordinary content change through WordPress and inspect its public result.

Include access, backups and updates in the handover, using WordPress’s hardening guidance. Those responsibilities continue after the initial build.

Adding Niwa means configuring an intelligent agent with context from your website and connected business tools. Schedule one complete acceptance test for the task you want it to perform. For an appointment business, ask about the service in WhatsApp, choose an available time and book directly in the conversation, then inspect the saved reservation. Preparing the service information, connecting the schedule and checking that result are additional work beyond the simple enquiry site in the table.

Existing WordPress owners can use the standalone Niwa plugin. Niwa Business is USD 150 and includes a custom WordPress website or migration, hosting, maintenance and AI adaptation. Send Niwa your page list, ready materials and required launch date to confirm scope, timing and payment terms.

Choose a launch date from the reviewed workload, named dependencies and checked acceptance criteria. Update it when the scope changes, rather than treating the first generated page as the end of the project.
